Shaft sinking equipment

Sinking platform

At the same time as the decision was taken to extend the work of the tunnelling division to include raise-boring, it was also decided to incorporate the entire spectrum of shaft sinking operations to cover those diameters which could not be achieved with raise-boring or which, for geological reasons, required a different sinking procedure.
The foundation for the development of this business area was laid during the Mosul Dam project in Iraq, where both processes were used. Ventilation, supply and pressure shafts, and surge tanks of up to 14 metres diameter and 600 metres depth have been drilled for civilian and military tunnel, power plant and cavern projects in Austria and elsewhere.
We own a wide range of winch systems, sinking platforms and shaft-building equipment, which enables us to adapt on site to specific requirements. We are also capable of providing a combination of raise-boring, followed by conventional shaft sinking and lining of the shaft with concrete or steel casing. We would be glad to provide in-depth advice on financial, geological and engineering considerations to ensure that your shaft project is completed in the best possible manner.
